Channel Islands “The Pod”

Author: admin May 12, 2010

The Channel Islands “The Pod” is an inspiration in Kelly Slaters’s new surfboards and design direction. The Pod is built to fly. The Pod has deep concaves with a foiled nose and a swallow tail keeps the Pod lively and maintains its high performance. The “snub” nose puts volume forward, allowing for maximum planing and wave catching. The wide, curvy outline makes the Pod friendly for all levels of surfers. A good tip is to ride this board 6” to 8” shorter, about 1 1/2” wider and about 1/8” thicker. This surfboard is designed to be skatey and is great for knee high to head and a half high waves. The Pod comes in quad and thruster fin set ups.

2009 Channel Islands “Whip” surfboard!

Author: admin April 10, 2010

Looking for a new Board that has all the drive you ever could wish for? well now you’ve found it. The Channel Island “Whip”. The “Whip” is a great board for smaller waves, its fast and holds great in pockets. Some feedback on this board is you should be ridden 3-4 inches smaller than your shortboard, 1/4″ wider and the same thickness.  This board is designed for everyday use by intermediate to expert surfers in knee to head high surf.

History on The “Whip”: In landlocked neighborhoods a man’s “whip” is his customized ride, his prized mode of transportation. During the Europe leg in 2009, Kelly’s “Whip” for less than perfect surf was his 5’9” x 18 5/8” x 2’5/16” – one inch shorter than what he won Snapper and Bells on in 2008. This is Kelly and Al’s re-worked version of the Flyer, with a few secret changes. This board is faster and more forgiving. If you’re looking for a board that excels when your shortboard seems to bog, this is the board for you.
