2 Surfers Rescued By Coast Guard!
April 13, 2010On April 9th, Two Surfers Paddled out into the Ocean at Otter Rock on a day Where surfing is out of the question. The Surfers paddled out on a 18ft swell with a 10 sec. interval. The day was stormy. Wind blue 20 knots with gusts up to 40 knots and was raining hard. The Surfers Paddled out and made it to the line up, but the Ocean was way to strong and the surfers had to make refuge on a near by rock, for they could not make it back in. The Surfers were Soon Spotted by the Coast Guard, and soon after a Rescue Operation was under way. The Two Surfers were safely rescued with no injuries other then the lost of there surfboards. When you are Rescued by helicopter you have to leave your surfboards behind, so its best never to get yourself in these situations.
The Best Way to Make Sher you Never Find yourself here is to take a surfing lesson. In these lessons you will be taught about water safety, when its safe to paddle out, surfing etiquette, and the essentials of surfing, plus a blast of good fun. Ive only had a chance to see him surf a few times, but on those few times he was rippen it. It was definitely “FAR OUT” as he says. Dan opened Ossies Surf shop, which is located in Newport Oregon, almost 12 years ago with the idea of being a rental shop, but now its much much more. Plus he opened another surf shop, called Otter Rock, 2 years ago. Otter Rock surf shop is located in Depoe Bay, Oregon. Dan has been know as a pioneer on the Oregon Coast. 2009 Channel Islands “Whip” surfboard!
April 10, 2010Looking for a new Board that has all the drive you ever could wish for? well now you’ve found it. The Channel Island “Whip”. The “Whip” is a great board for smaller waves, its fast and holds great in pockets. Some feedback on this board is you should be ridden 3-4 inches smaller than your shortboard, 1/4″ wider and the same thickness. This board is designed for everyday use by intermediate to expert surfers in knee to head high surf.
History on The “Whip”: In landlocked neighborhoods a man’s “whip” is his customized ride, his prized mode of transportation. During the Europe leg in 2009, Kelly’s “Whip” for less than perfect surf was his 5’9” x 18 5/8” x 2’5/16” – one inch shorter than what he won Snapper and Bells on in 2008. This is Kelly and Al’s re-worked version of the Flyer, with a few secret changes. This board is faster and more forgiving. If you’re looking for a board that excels when your shortboard seems to bog, this is the board for you.
